ABOUT HD ENTERTAINMENT

OUR STUDIO

Our studio, HD Entertainment, is located on Level 2 & 3, 34 King Street, Prahran (enter via Mount Street) which is in the heart of Prahran, Melbourne. We have 2 separate levels, level 2 being the dance studio and level 3 being the fitness studio. Both the Dance Studio and Fitness Studio have wheel chair access and there are disabled toilets located on level 1 of the building. We cater to all surrounding suburbs – Toorak, South Yarra, Malvern, Windsor and St Kilda.

DANCE STUDIO

We at HD Entertainment have been in the dance industry for over 20 years.
Our beautiful studio is located on level 2 of the building and has newly installed sprung hardwood timber floors, perfect for dancers, especially with jumps, tricks and dancing in heels, full length mirrors including portable mirrors, portable and adjustable ballet barres, lots of natural light, heating and cooling all with a New York Loft feel.

FITNESS STUDIO

We at HD Entertainment first were in the fitness industry in 2002.

We now have a state-of-the-art fitness facility on level 3.

This type of exceptional facility is normally only seen at elite training facilities like the Australian Ballet, Royal Ballet, New York Ballet and utilised by professional athletes such as Tennis player Andy Murray, celebrities Lady Gaga, Madonna and many others.

You can find:

Olympic barbells, plates, Smith Machine, Cables, Dumb bells, TRX, Thera-Bands, Trigger point massage balls, foam rollers.

The GYROTONIC®️ Method equipment with the pulley tower & propeller unit.

Yoga mats, bolsters, yoga blocks, straps.

Posture Zone grid and anatomy charts.

Kitchenette, Nespresso coffees machine, toilet.

Balcony with beautiful outdoor seating and beautiful views of Prahran town hall & gardens.

HOOMAN EBADI

Hooman began teaching dance in 2003 and the experience of teaching gave Hooman the incentive to study more of his craft. Hooman was fortunate enough to be instructed in Latin and Ballroom by the inimitable Jenny Rosenfeld. He also completed 3 years full time dance training under Robert Sturrock at Industry Dance in Jazz, Hip Hop, Contemporary and Ballet. He is currently learning with professional Latin champion, Alarna Donovan and had the honour of learning from Australia’s most recognized and respected dancers, Robert & Helen Ritchey.

This diverse training has lead Hooman to perform in Latin stage shows with some of Australia’s leading choreographers. He has had competition success with championship wins in Latin American dance and has performed internationally in Puerto Rico and New Orleans.

Hooman’s extensive training provided the opportunity to work in many stage, screen and theatrical performances as a dancer and choregraphing for international and Australian artists. Credits include ‘Thank God You’re Here’, ‘It Takes Two’, ‘Footy Show Players Revue’, ‘Winners & Losers’ and ‘Studio 10′.

Hooman’s professionalism, reliability and passion for enhancing and developing his students’ ability to dance, has made Hooman a successful and sought-after instructor. Teaching one-on-one classes, small and large groups – Such as ‘Sydney Salsa Congress’, Melbourne University, RMIT Melbourne and many corporate events. He has continued his education in personal training and is also a qualified GYROTONIC® Method and GYROKINESIS® Method licensed instructor. He has successfully combined dance and exercise to help students with Parkinson’s disease.

Hooman believes dance is a skill, communication and art that he takes pride in passing on. It is a skill that needs to be nurtured to develop. He also believes the process of learning should be fun. He provides a relaxed teaching environment where students can make mistakes, take risks and explore themselves without feeling intimidated.

Hooman, together with his beautiful and talented wife Dalena, developed their own dance company – HD Entertainment.

HD Entertainment has already set new standards in costuming, staging and final performance presentations in Latin, Bollywood and corporate events.

DALENA LEGGIERI EBADI

Dance training for Dalena began at the age of 3, learning from the greats of the dance industry, Bert Shaw & Camille Edwards. She trained in jazz, tap and ballet and later moving onto the genres of hip hop and acrobatics to enhance her skill, this gave Dalena the strong foundation that she draws upon today.

Taking a step forward in the Latin world training from Professional Australian and International Latin Champions, Robert and Helen Ritchey, has lead Dalena to perform and work in a broad range of dance shows, television and theatre productions.

Dalena made her theatrical stage debut in The Production Company’s season of Hair, Directed by David Atkins and choreographed by Jason Coleman. Dalena has performed several times on Channel 9’s ‘Footy Show Player Revue’, has been a guest performer multiple times on channel 10’s morning show ‘Studio 10’ as well as appearing in television commercials, episodes of ‘Neighbours’ ‘Winner and Losers’ ‘City Homicide’ and ‘Satisfaction’ on Foxtel. She has performed as a resident dancer for multiple shows and Latin Theatre Restaurants around Melbourne. One of Dalena’s many highlights includes re-creating the iconic Paso Doble routine from Strictly Ballroom with Paul Mercurio himself.

Dalena is a highly skilled costume designer and manufacturer, as well as a proficient music editor. She is one of the leading costume makers in Melbourne with great concepts and well finished commercial, Latin and cutting edge costumes. All her work is carried out to exacting standards, with a high degree of expertise and attention to detail.

This broad range of experience and skill makes Dalena an invaluable asset to HD Entertainment. She has great flair for choreographing staged shows and has done so for artists such as Deni Hines, Gina G, Anthony Callea, Wynter Gordon, Inya Day and Sarah C.

Dalena has endless talent in all aspects of dance, creation and performance. She is the whole package: a friendly and intelligent soul wrapped up in a vivacious and entertaining performer.

MACKENZIE DUNN

Originally from Perth, Mackenzie is a Music Theatre graduate of the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts. Mackenzie’s professional credits include Evelyn Nesbit in the Australian premiere of Ragtime, Francine in Jersey Boys, Shrek The Musical, Thoroughly Modern Millie, Lazarus, Assassins and Summer of the Seventeenth Doll. Mackenzie has taught and choreographed dance and music theatre for 8 years at various schools including WAAPA, John Curtin College of the Arts, Dance Central, St Hildas’ Anglican School for Girls.

MARCE OSPINA

Marce Ospina - Photo

Born in Medellin, Columbia, Marce grew up listening to Tango with her father who is a Tango aficionado and guitar player.

At 17 Marce began to study Tango, along with Classical Ballet and Gymnastics. Marce made her Tango performance debut in 2008, partnering Cesar Meneses for the closing of the end of year showcase for Academia Dance AS – Medellin. In 2009, Marce partners up with popular dancer Sergio Lopez from Botoga and begins competing some of the best Tango competitions in Columbia. Over the coming years, Marce accumulates many accolades to her name in World renowned competitions and performances across the globe, including becoming a resident dancer at ‘Neo Tango’ Dance Company and ‘Astro Tango’ Dance Company.

In 2013, Marce moves to Australia and partners up with husband, Hernan Hernandez, a well-respected dancer and milonguero in Australia, together they undergo intense training from Daniel Nacuccio & Cristina Sosa, Sebastion Achaval & Roxana Suarez and Sebastian Jimenez & Maria Ines Bogado.

Since arriving in Melbourne, Marce regularly teaches Tango and Ladies Tango Technique Classes. Marce’s vast experience in teaching, performing and Tango music, makes her one the most knowledgeable Tango Instructors. You can take Marce’s Ladies Technique class every Thursday from 7.30pm at HD Entertainment followed by Intermediate Tango at 8.30pm

Elizabeth Sterry

About Us

Born in Melbourne, Elizabeth started her training at the age of four at Camberwell district Ballet School learning the Cecchetti method under Thompson and Taves. At 10 she started to learn RAD with Rosemary Frost, then continued with RAD at the National Theatre Ballet School with many teachers including Eileen and Tasker Marilyn Jones. In her teens she took up jazz and tap. After high school she commenced full time training at Dance World 301 in Performing Arts where she took on many new dance styles. 

Elizabeth Started teaching Ballroom and Latin at a social studio teaching private classes and choreographing student’s performance routines while taking on performance opportunities. Later on Elizabeth took a break to travel and did community theatre in her spare time. 

Currently Elizabeth is  teaching adult ballet classes in Melbourne and loves being back in the studio.
